Arooj Aftab releases beautifully melancholic new single ‘Udhero Na’ featuring sitar player Anoushka Shankar. The track is part of an upcoming deluxe release of her highly acclaimed 2021 album The Vulture Prince out June 24th via Verve Records. Shankar’s distinctive sitar winds alongside gently plucked harps in this spacious and minimal composition while Aftab sings of “a very unique and fleeting emotional moment… the thought of someone from a very old and ‘passed’ relationship just pops into your head as you go about your present day to day.” ‘Udero Na’ is another example of Arooj Aftab’s masterful song writing and her ability to take elements of traditional South Asian music and combine with contemporary styles and her unique voice to create something completely new. -Toby Evans-Jesra
